Omega Centauri is a rewarding deep-sky target and shows up as a faint patch of light. It is relatively bright.
Right now it is at about 27° altitude and reaches 42° around 01:04 AM.
It stays above 30° for roughly 6 hours.
Observing conditions matter, contrast improves away from light pollution.
This makes it a good target for beginners.
At higher magnification, subtle detail can be detected.
It offers less structure than some of the brightest galaxies.
